title: "Fit scoring: prioritize the right 20 out of 100 companies"
description: The right time beats the right argument. A company that has just expanded, completed a financing round or hired a new manager in your target discipline is more receptive than one that is dormant. These signals are public - they are rarely evaluated in a structured way.

Anyone who has researched 100 companies is faced with a luxury problem: too many options, too little time. Without prioritization, the sales department works through the list in random order - and burns through the best opportunities because they happened to be at the bottom.

## Why gut instinct fails when prioritizing

People prioritize according to their mood on the day and the last story they heard. Consistent scoring according to fixed criteria is fairer and, above all, repeatable. Four dimensions have proven their worth: ICP fit, current buying signals, accessibility of decision makers and estimated order volume.

## Delegate the scoring to the AI

Instead of evaluating each company individually, prioritization can be carried out in a batch - consistently across all companies:

### Prompt - Fit scoring multiple companies

Evaluate the following companies as sales leads for
us.
Our ICP: [PROFILE].
Our offer: [OFFER].

Give each company points (0-5 each) for: ICP fit,
current buying signals, accessibility of decision-makers,
estimated order volume. Form a total sum,
sort in descending order. Explain the top 3 in one sentence each.

Company:
[INSERT LIST]

## Calibrate the scoring

A scoring is only as good as its weighting. If all the top leads don't fit in the end, the weights aren't right. Let the AI question the logic:

### Prompt - question the scoring weighting

```
Here are our scoring criteria and weights: [CRITERIA]. And here are the last 5 won and 5 lost deals with their scores: [DEALS].Does the weighting match the actual results? Suggest specific adjustments and give reasons for them.
```

**Conclusion: **Fit scoring transforms an unsorted list into an order with a system. With large, constantly changing lists, it is worth automating the scoring - so that the priority is always up to date, not just on the day of the search. In week 3, we switch from company to person.
